Non-Profit Hosts Successful 'Get to Know Us' Event
The local non-profit organization, Waste Alliance Group-Tennessee (WAG-TN), recently hosted a successful 'Get to Know WAG-TN’ event at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Murfreesboro, TN on April 4, 2023. The event was aimed at introducing members of the Tennessee waste industry community to the organization and its mission. The event was attended by representatives from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), solid waste and recycling industry representatives and by several Solid Waste Directors from local counties.

Waste Alliance Group is a non-profit organization that provides various services to the waste community. Waste Alliance Group (WAG) is a non-profit 501(c)(6), organized in September 2021 for the purpose of bringing together members that share common interests, located in, and focused on the North Carolina and Tennessee waste markets. WAG provides educational training seminars and tailored, useful, state-specific resources to its members. The 'Get to Know WAG-TN’ event was held as part of the organization's outreach efforts, to bring waste industry professionals from the community together to discuss benefits of joining and supporting WAG-TN.
The event included presentations about the organization's work, history, and membership benefits. Attendees were able to learn about the various programs that Waste Alliance Group offers and how they can get involved.
The event also featured guest speakers, including, Amy Katcher, who shared TDEC’s Materials Management Program Update for the state of Tennessee . She spoke about TDEC staffing updates, currently available and upcoming grants, the 2025-2035 Solid Waste and Materials Management Plan, Disaster Debris Management Planning, and shared waste disposal and generation statistics with the audience.
The organization received positive feedback from attendees, who praised the event for being informative and engaging, and that the training that WAG-TN offers would be beneficial to their employees. "Our mission is to serve the community, and events like these allow us to showcase our work and to connect with the people we serve" said Ray Hoffman, President of Waste Alliance Group.
